From January to May 2023, the industrial added value of textile enterprises above designated size decreased by 3.6% year on year, and the operating revenue was 1789.2 billion yuan, down 5.2% year on year; The total profit was 44.4 billion yuan, down 27.5% year on year. The output of yarn, cloth and clothing of enterprises above designated size decreased by 3.5%, 6.4% and 1.9% respectively year on year, while the output of chemical fiber increased by 2.7% year on year.

From January to May 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods per unit above the designated size nationwide reached 6872.1 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7% year on year, of which the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats, knitwear and textiles per unit above the designated size increased by 14.1% year on year, and the retail sales of physical goods online wearing goods increased by 14.6% year on year.

From January to May 2023, China's textile and clothing exports totaled US $118.2 billion, down 5.3% year on year. In May, textile and clothing exports to the world reached 25.3 billion US dollars, up 13.1% year on year.
